HSS Hamnservice Ab – Transport Terms and Conditions for Shuttle Boat Service

Effective from: 14 April 2026

1. Scope of Application

These transport terms apply to shuttle boat and water transport services provided by HSS Hamnservice Ab (hereinafter referred to as the “Service Provider”) in the Helsinki area.
These terms apply to all passengers and transports unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Definitions

Shuttle Boat Service
Passenger transport by water arranged by the Service Provider.

Passenger
A person who uses or has booked the transport service.

Transport
The transfer of a passenger by vessel from the departure location to the destination.

3. Service Description

The Service Provider offers shuttle boat transport on agreed routes according to schedules, bookings, or demand.

The service may include:

  • passenger transport
  • transport of goods
  • charter trips

Transports are carried out using available vessels and with consideration of weather conditions.

4. Booking and Payment

4.1 Booking

Transport must be purchased according to the instructions provided by the Service Provider (application, telephone, restaurants in Liuskasaari, or directly at the dock).

4.2 Payment Terms

The trip must be paid no later than when departing from the island to the mainland or by another method approved by the Service Provider.

Accepted payment methods include, but are not limited to:

  • card payment
  • mobile payment
  • MobilePay
  • invoicing for agreed customer groups

4.3 Cancellations

Unused reservations will be charged in full.

5. Authority of the Captain and Crew

The vessel’s master (captain) has the right to:

  • issue safety instructions to passengers
  • interrupt the journey or change the route due to weather, safety, or technical reasons
  • refuse transport to persons who are intoxicated, behaving disruptively, or posing a safety risk

Instructions given by the captain must be followed.

6. Passenger Responsibilities

Passengers must:

  • follow the instructions of the crew
  • wear life jackets when instructed by the crew
  • take care of their personal belongings
  • avoid causing danger or disturbance to other passengers

7. Life Jackets and Safety Equipment

The Service Provider provides the required life jackets and other safety equipment on board.

Passengers are responsible for using life jackets properly according to the crew’s instructions.

Children must wear life jackets whenever instructed by the crew.

Passengers may not leave the vessel without permission from the crew.

8. Luggage

8.1 Permitted Items

Passengers may carry personal belongings with them.

8.2 Liability for Belongings

The Service Provider is not liable for damage to or loss of passenger property unless the damage is caused by negligence on the part of the Service Provider.

9. Transport of Pets

Pets are permitted.

Pets must remain leashed, in a carrier, or otherwise under control during the entire transport.

The captain may refuse to transport a pet if it is considered to pose a safety risk.

10. Schedule Changes

The Service Provider reserves the right to change published or announced schedules.

Seasonal schedules may be changed with at least one (1) week’s notice, unless the change is due to:

  • weather conditions
  • safety circumstances
  • authority regulations
  • technical failure
  • other force majeure situations

Immediate changes may occur if required to ensure safe operation.

11. Force Majeure / Weather Conditions

The Service Provider is not responsible for delays or inability to perform transport if caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • storms, thunderstorms, or heavy waves
  • low visibility
  • ice conditions
  • authority regulations
  • unexpected technical failures
  • other force majeure events

12. Emergency Procedures

In an emergency:

  • Passengers must immediately follow the crew’s instructions.
  • The vessel’s crew may deviate from the agreed transport conditions to ensure safety.
  • The captain has full authority over all safety-related decisions.

13. Limitation of Liability

The liability of the Service Provider is determined in accordance with the Finnish Maritime Act (674/1994) and other applicable legislation.

The Service Provider is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, such as:

  • missed connections
  • financial losses

14. Prices

Prices are determined according to the current price list.

The Service Provider reserves the right to change prices without separate notice.

15. Data Protection

The Service Provider processes booking and customer data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The data is used only for:

  • service delivery
  • invoicing
  • customer relationship management

16. Applicable Law and Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by Finnish law.

Any disputes will primarily be resolved through negotiation.

If no agreement is reached, the matter will be settled in the Helsinki District Court.
